The Peloton auto-incline feature is now available for all Peloton Tread/Tread+ Members! When enabled for on-demand Tread classes, the auto-incline feature will automatically set your Tread’s incline based on Instructor cues throughout your class.
Using Auto-Incline
After the “intro” of an on-demand Tread class (once the target metrics appear on the screen), you can turn the auto-incline on or off by tapping on the “lock” button to the right of the incline target metric range. By default, auto-incline will be disabled at the start of every on-demand workout. You can enable and disable this feature at any point during your class.
The first time you enable auto-incline, you will see a tool tip reminding you that you can continue to make manual adjustments while the auto-incline is on.
Once the auto-incline feature is turned on, the outline of the lock will begin to fill. This is your indicator for how much time is left until the next incline change. When the Instructor cues the new incline range, your incline will automatically adjust.
Your Tread/Tread+ incline will adjust accordingly based on where you were in the previous range of target incline metrics. For example, if you are running or walking at the lower end of the incline range, and the incline changes, your incline will adjust to the lower end of the new incline range once cued.
FAQs
Q: What happens when the Tread/Tread+ is set to 0mph?
A: Auto-incline changes are paused when the Tread/Tread+ is set to 0 mph. The Tread/Tread+ will begin following incline cues once the speed has increased above 0 mph.
Q: If I have enabled auto-incline and I’m outside of the incline range when the next cue is called, what will happen?
A: If the Tread's incline is outside the current range before the next cue is called, the Tread/Tread+ will adjust back into the new incline range.
For example, if your incline is above the range, you’ll be moved to the top of the new range. If your incline was below the range, you’ll be moved to the bottom of the new range.
Q: Is auto-incline available for live classes?
At this time, auto-incline is only available for on-demand classes that have target metrics.
Q: Why can't I see the auto-incline option on my Tread+?
A: Please be aware that there might be a delay in availability as we are gradually rolling out the new feature to ensure a seamless integration for all users. Thank you for your patience as we make it available to everyone.
A: To make sure you can access the feature, please ensure that your software is up to date. For instructions on checking for software updates on your device, please reference the Peloton Software Updates support article.
