Tread Lock is a safety feature that automatically locks the Peloton Tread or Peloton Tread+ after you put your Tread or Tread+ to sleep or after 45 seconds of inactivity outside of a class.
How does it work?
As soon as your Tread or Tread+ receives the latest software update or you activate your Peloton device, you will be prompted to activate the Tread Lock.
Once the passcode has been set, the belt on your Tread or Tread+ will automatically lock after 45 seconds of inactivity outside of a class, or after the Tread or Tread+ wakes from sleep or restart. You will then have to enter your Tread Lock passcode to unlock the belt and get moving.
Note: If you currently don’t have an active membership with Peloton you will be prompted to activate your passcode by clicking the just run or take sample run button.
Tread Lock is an important feature to ensure that your Peloton device is safer than ever before. You will be required to set up Tread Lock.
What is considered “Inactivity”?
A Peloton Tread or Peloton Tread+ is considered "inactive" and Tread Lock will be enabled when all of the following conditions are met:
- You have not touched the screen for at least 45 seconds.
- Your speed is at 0 mph.
- The incline has not been adjusted for at least 45 seconds.
- You are not in a class.
Please note that even if you are in a class, the belt on your Peloton Tread or Peloton Tread+ will come to a stop if it has been set to a speed above 0 mph and it does not detect a person running.
Following the stop and upon class exit, the belt will lock and you will be prompted to enter the Tread Lock passcode to continue.
Please make sure that you stop the belt completely before starting the floor section of a Bootcamp class.
How to reset the passcode
To change your passcode, tap the "More" menu on the bottom-right of your home screen. From there, select "Tread Lock" to reset your pin code.
If you have forgotten your passcode and are unable to login to your class menu, please select “Forgot your Device Lock Passcode” to prompt the reset. You will be required to enter your account password then perform the passcode change.
You can also perform a factory reset to reset the passcode. You will need the activation key or the membership owner login.
Not sure where to find your Activation Key? Search your email for the subject line “Your Tread+/Tread is Ready for Delivery''.
- On the top right corner of the screen, tap on settings.
- Select “Device Settings” and proceed to “System”.
- Select “Factory Reset” and select “Reset Tablet”.
- Re-activate your Peloton unit.
- As soon as you reactivate your unit, you will be prompted to enter a passcode to activate the Tread Lock
Note: There is only one passcode for your Tread+ or Tread, which should be shared across all authorized household users who meet the criteria outlined in the Tread+ User Manual.
