Peloton collects sales tax on Peloton Membership to comply with state and local tax requirements.
Tax on the Peloton All-Access Membership and Peloton App
Some states consider electronically delivered products, services, or subscriptions taxable. In order to be in compliance with state and local tax jurisdictions, the Peloton All-Access Membership and Peloton App One and App+ Memberships may be subject to state and local taxes.
Florida State and Local Communications Services Taxes
Florida and its local jurisdictions impose a Communications Services Tax (CST) on communication services, which is defined to include audio and video streaming and related services. This definition includes voice, data, audio, video, or any other information or signals transmitted by any medium.
The Florida Communication Services Tax applies to the All-Access Membership and Peloton App One and App+ Memberships paid by Members in Florida, in addition to any similar local tax that may be assessed in your county or city. As a result, the CST will be proportionately applied to the All-Access Membership and Peloton App One and App+ Memberships.
For more information on CST, please refer to the Florida Department of Revenue website.
How is the tax amount determined?
For sales tax purposes, electronically delivered products and services are generally considered to be delivered to a Member’s address, as reflected by their billing address.
If you live in a state that collects sales tax on digital subscriptions, you should expect applicable sales tax on your monthly or annual membership payments.
Tax rates vary by state, city, and local jurisdiction and are based on the rates applicable at the time of your monthly charge. These amounts can change over time with state and local tax requirements.
For more information, please refer to your state's website.
What happens if sales tax becomes required for my location?
If we become required to add sales tax to your membership per your location, the change will be made to your account automatically. Peloton will not back-charge you for your prior months as a subscription holder.
