Before using the Peloton Row, please confirm that you are following the guidelines outlined in the article, Peloton Row Safety Features / Requirements.
Powering the Peloton Row
The Peloton Row has four power modes:
- Power On: In order to ensure the Peloton Row is fully operable, make sure the power switch on the bottom of the base is turned on, both the power cord and USB-C cable are securely fitted into the Row ports, and the power cord is plugged into an electrical outlet. Make sure that the USB-C cable is plugged into the middle port. Your Row will not turn on if the USB-C cable is inserted into the bottom port.
- Wake: You can wake the Peloton Row at any time by pressing the button on the back of the touchscreen or by pulling the handle from the dock position.
- Sleep: By default, the Peloton Row will go into a low power standby mode after 15 minutes of inactivity. You can wake it up any time by pressing the button on the back of the touchscreen or by pulling the handle from the handle dock position. The Row is designed to be left ON in between uses. The Row will receive software updates routinely while in sleep mode. For more information about sleep mode, click here.
- Disable: In order to ensure the Peloton Row is fully inoperable, power off the Row by flipping the power switch off and unplugging the power cord.
The Peloton Row is equipped with:
- Bluetooth® 5.0.x capabilities
- ANT+ wireless
- Bluetooth® Heart Rate Monitors
- Bluetooth® Headphones/Speakers
- Apple® Watch
Please note: The Peloton Row does not support Apple® Gymkit. The Row does not support the use of wired headphones.
IMPORTANT: Heart rate monitoring systems may be inaccurate. Use metrics on the screen for references only. Always remain alert while using the Row. Cease exercise if you feel faint or dizzy.
- The Peloton Row is equipped with an 8 megapixel front-facing camera with a privacy slider.
- Privacy is taken seriously at Peloton. By default, the camera is off.

Holding the Handle
While using your Peloton Row, it’s important to hold the handle properly. Holding the handle properly helps you get the most out of your workout and avoid injuries.
To hold the handle properly:
- Position your hands as wide as you can on the handle. Your pinkies should be at the very edges.
- Hold the handle loosely in your fingers. Your thumbs should wrap underneath the handles and your palms should not touch it.
- Gripping the handle tightly or improperly can lead to blisters and can strain your joints.
- If you can’t wiggle your fingers while you’re holding the handle, you might be holding it too tightly.
- Keep your wrists horizontal throughout the stroke, forming a straight line with the handle strap. The handle should rotate smoothly under your fingers throughout the stroke.
Holding the handle properly takes practice. You’ll get it! Just remember to avoid over-gripping and pay attention to your grip during your drills and warmups. We look forward to seeing you on the Leaderboard!
