Calibrating Your Peloton Bike
Calibrating Your Peloton Bike+
Calibrating Your Peloton Bike
The Peloton Bike has a manual resistance system powered by a magnetic brake that is calibrated when it is manufactured. In the manufacturing process, there is some minor variation from Bike to Bike, but you should not need to calibrate the Bike again at any point.
Keep in mind that other factors, such as seat/handlebar position, shoe clip type, room temperature, and your strength level, may cause your Bike output to feel different. If you'd like to reset your Personal Record (PR), learn how by clicking here.
If your Bike has experienced any of the below issues paired with output issues, please start a chat with our Member Support Team for a calibration kit by clicking here or call us at 1800 952 535.
- Physical damage to the brake
- Resistance is unable to read 0 or 100
- Resistance doesn't change after several turns or seems to skip several numbers
- Sensor board or brake part has been recently repaired or replaced
Peloton Bike Calibration Kit Instructions
If you have received a calibration kit from our Member Support Team, please follow the steps below or view the instructional video by clicking here.
1. Remove the water bottle holder and sweat guard using a Phillips head screwdriver, 3mm and 4mm Allen keys.
2. Invoke the Home Installer screen by Factory Resetting your console. Device Settings > System > Factory Reset
3. Tap 10x on the title, “Set up your Bike using our home installation steps,” to launch the Bike calibration flow.
You will now see a screen that says “Welcome to Sensor Calibration!”
1. Tap “Get Started.” Turn the resistance knob all the way to the left and tap calibrate.
2. Once you see the min resistance calibration, tap calibrate max resistance and turn all the way to the right.
3. When complete, tap done and turn the knob all the way to the left.
4. Place the calibration wedge tool in between the 2nd and 3rd magnets on the flywheel and turn the knob to rest on the wedge.
5. Remove the wedge tool and place both white disks under the resistance knob.
6. Ensure that the lines on both pieces match up and are facing the neck of the Bike.
7. Tap “next” on the screen to begin the 31-step calibration.
8. Press “set” and turn the knob in quarter turn increments until calibration is complete.
9. Power off the screen and unplug the Bike. Replace the water bottle cups and front protection guard.
Then try out a class and check if the resistance and cadence levels have successfully updated and read as accurate.
Calibrating Your Peloton Bike+
The Peloton Bike+ has an automatic resistance system powered by a digitally-controlled brake that automatically calibrates upon first use. You should not need to calibrate the Bike+ at any point.
If you are experiencing any issues with your Bike+ resistance or output, power cycle the Bike+ by unplugging and plugging it back in. The Bike+ will power on and the Homing process will begin to ensure your brake is working as expected. You may hear some movement from the brake motor during this process.
Keep in mind that other factors, such as seat/handlebar position, shoe clip type, room temperature, and your strength level, may cause your Bike+ output to feel different. If you'd like to reset your Personal Record (PR), learn how by clicking here.
