It’s important your cleats are properly attached to get the smoothest and safest ride possible.
- First, position each cleat over the three screw holes on the bottom of your shoes.
- Set the washers into the recesses of the cleats and place a screw into each screw hole. Wait to tighten.
- We recommend positioning your cleats to face forward and in line with the toe, straight on the line from heel to toe. Make sure to set the middle of the cleat across the ball of the foot on the shoe. Also set the cleat as close to the inside of the shoe, near the arch, as the washers allow.
- Using the 4-millimetre hex key that came with your bike, tighten the screws to securely attach them to your shoes.
- To check and see if your cleat is properly aligned, begin to pedal and make sure the pressure falls in the ball of your feet. The ball of your foot should be directly over the pedal axle.
- If you notice discomfort in your feet, legs or knees, check your cleats to make sure they are on straight. Over time, the screws will loosen, causing your cleats to shift. When your cleats are loose, you will notice difficulty while unclipping or a noise coming from your cleats. To fix, straighten your cleats and tighten the screws securely. We also recommend tightening your cleats once per month to ensure a silent ride.
